From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

The purpose of this page is to allow Wikipedians to list their ID / nickname for instant messaging. If you need to contact a Wikipedian right now, just add a few of these people to your roster (AKA "buddy list"), and check whether someone is online. Note that there are several different IM networks, and it is quite possible that you cannot talk to people on another network than the one you are using.

Instant messaging software that can connect to a variety of networks includes Gaim, Adium, Trillian, Odigo and Miranda IM. Jabber users can also use 'transports'/'gateways' to connect to other networks.

You should contact your selected new "buddy" before adding them to your contact list. Otherwise when their IM Service alerts them that some unknown user (that's you) has added them to their contact list, it is likely that they will block you for security reasons (to avoid spammers and other unwanted people). They might track you down to confirm your identity, or they might not.
