W.J.T. Mitchell is a professor of English and art history at the University of Chicago. He is also the editor of Critical Inquiry. His research focuses on media theory and visual culture, with his major works being Iconology and Picture Theory. He has also written about dinosaurs, Edward Said, and a number of other topics.
