Me, at my high school graduation

My name is Lauren, and I'm a compulsive writer (with a very literary LiveJournal), an art history fanatic, a voracious reader, a Girl Scout, an amateur sociologist, a theater technician and a museum junkie.

When I first came to Wikipedia in December 2004, I was a New Jersey high school senior working on an independent study in all things outsider art. I was deeply upset by the skimpy coverage of outsider art on Wikipedia, and so I decided to petition my advisors with an idea. Why don't you grade me on my contributions to Wikipedia in the field of outsider art? They said yes, because apparently the concept itself is very "outsider-y." Outsider art liberates culture from the "art world" and Wikipedia liberates it from academia. Or something like that. I think more kids should do academic work on Wikipedia.

Now I'm just a deeply neurotic Wiki-holic with over 2000 edits under my belt, and a Swarthmore College freshman. Funny how time passes.

Lauren is the best spec to ever spec Swarthmore! And she likes outsider art a lot. (Psst, Lauren, you should edit your own user page.) -- Skyfaller 20:44, 2004 Dec 26 (UTC)

Lauren has an encyclopaedic knowledge of almost everything. Hang the outsider art; this girl is more than fit to edit civilization as we know it. Siskel and Ebert give her two thumbs up. And Siskel's dead. -- Priyankipedia 1:46, 2004 Dec 28 (UTC)

Endorse! Endorse! Endorse! (She made me do it) :P. No, seriously, Stokes's a cute, lovable, robot, *I mean* person, who embodies V.I.K.I. for her perversion of logic, Marvin for a brain the size of a planet, and Eddie, for an indefatigable sense of cheerfulness. Thank you, this has been a public service announcement sponsored by the Lauren Stokes Stalker, *I mean* Fan, Club. -- Blindmansmirror 12:29, 2005 May 30 (UTC)
