Hello, I'm Andre. I joined Wikipedia in June 2003 and I have over (http://kohl.wikimedia.org/~kate/cgi-bin/count_edits.cgi?user=Andrevan&dbname=enwiki) 6,400 edits. As of September 2004, I am currently an administrator, and both an advocate and a mediator, though as of yet I have not participated in any cases as either. I am also a member of the Welcoming committee, and I have welcomed many users. My Wikipediholic score is 82, which is in "the most optimal, productive range." I'm an active member of WikiProject Computer and video games, as well as a member of WikiProject Computing, WikiProject New York City, WikiProject Kindness Campaign, and the Version 1.0 Editorial Team.

I ripped off this awesome user page layout from Joseph Dwayne's brilliant but no longer active edit (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/wiki.phtml?title=User:Jimbo_Wales&oldid=7477081) to Jimbo Wales's user page. I liked it so much, I stole it.

This page has been vandalized two (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/wiki.phtml?title=User:Andrevan&oldid=4538052) times (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/wiki.phtml?title=User:Andrevan&oldid=5986004) by 207.99.6.125 and then again (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/wiki.phtml?title=User:Andrevan&oldid=6533978) and again (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/wiki.phtml?title=User:Andrevan&oldid=6615672) by him under the name DG. Despite this, he is actually my friend. A guy who I don't know, User:Orangeness, vandalized (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Andrevan&diff=12177946&oldid=12177555) this page in a mass admin userpage vandalism spree. Anonymous user 205.146.72.156 vandalized (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Andrevan&diff=14542096&oldid=14541851) my page for some reason too.

My biases

• Religiously, I am an Atheist (meaning I lack belief in any god or gods, it's a position I've thought about seriously, but I'm open to new ideas), a Jew (meaning that I was Bar Mitzvah'd, I celebrate Hannukah, Passover, Rosh Hashanah, and so on), and a Secular Humanist.
• Demographically, I am a white straight male in the upper middle class economic bracket. I live in a suburban neighborhood in affluent Westchester, New York (though I am not an unusually wealthy person) where crime is uncommon.
• Politically, I am a liberal Democrat who supported Howard Dean and subsequently John Kerry for U.S. president in 2004. Prior to that, I supported Al Gore and Bill Clinton. I support Barack Obama for 2008, if he chooses to run, and I would vote for Hilary Clinton if she ran for president. I think Eliot Spitzer would be a brilliant president, if he runs. I have many socially libertarian views: I am pro-choice when it comes to most things, specifically abortion, I support the right to privacy and oppose the controversial PATRIOT act, and I believe that legalizing marijuana would be of benefit to the U.S. social landscape, though I would not partake in it myself. I am, however, pro-gun control, and I believe only hunting weapons should be allowed in the hands of the general population. I emphatically support the separation of church and state. Because of this, I believe that marriage, gay or straight, should be deregulated by the government, with all legal constraints and/or benefits on what is inherently a religious process removed. I believe that Israel and a Palestinian state can coexist, with Jerusalem as a U.N.-governed neutral area. I opposed and continue to oppose George W. Bush's war in Iraq.
• Computing-wise, I am an open source and Linux advocate, and I believe that Microsoft makes a large number of shoddy products. My computer is setup as a dual-boot system with Gentoo Linux and Windows XP. I use the nano/pico text editor and graphical editors like gedit and TextPad alternately.
• In matters Wikimedia-related, I'm a relative inclusionist and an eventualist, though I do believe that non-notable and vanity pages have no place in the Wikipedia. So you can get an idea as to my deletion-related views, I have proposed seven different pages for deletion with a 100% success rate.
