The Sweden national football team (Landslaget in Swedish) is controlled by the Swedish Football Association.

Sweden has seen some success at the World Cup, finishing second when they hosted the tournament in 1958, and third twice: in 1950 and 1994. Their best showing in the European Football Championship came when Sweden hosted as well: they reached the semifinals of Euro 92.

The current manager of the team, Lars Lagerbäck, originally joined the coaching staff in 1997 as an assistant to Tommy Söderberg, and was promoted to joint coach in 2000. After Euro 2004, Söderberg chose to leave his post with the senior national team to take over Sweden's under-21 national team, leaving Lagerbäck as sole coach.
