LifeSavers is a traditional American brand of hard candy. The ring shaped candies are packaged in rolls of about 15 pieces. LifeSavers was a subsidiary of Kraft Foods before being purchased by the Wrigley Company in 2004.
Lifesavers were first created in 1912 by Clarence Crane, a Cleveland chocolatier. The candy got its name due to its resemblance to a life preserver. It has also been claimed that if you were to choke on this candy, the hole in the middle would allow air to pass through, thereby essentially saving the choker's life.
In recent years, they have expanded the brand to include Gummi Savers, LifeSaver Minis, LifeSaver Fusions, Creme Savers, and Creme Savers soft candy (gummi bear-like creme savers).
