Cicely

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Cicely (Myrrhis odorata) is a plant belonging to the Apiaceae, or parsley, family. Its leaves are sometimes used as an herb, with a rather strong taste reminiscent to licorice or anise. Like its relatives, anise, fennel, and caraway, it can also be used to flavour aquavit. Its essential oils are dominated by anethole.

The plant is originally from Western Europe and is rather common in Scandinavia.
